‘eGovernment Success Stories and Global Trends’ Workshop Attracts International and Local Experts
As part of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2014 activities, the eGovernment Authority (eGA) will organize a workshop entitled eGovernment Success Stories and Global Trends on 22nd & 23rd April attracting local, regional and international prominent officials and experts.
The workshop aims at exploring the best success stories and practices beside the latest trends in the IT sector, telecommunications, eGovernment at all levels – local, regional and international. It also brings together prominent pioneers in the technology sector, senior officials in the Arab region and from around the world to present their own experiences and challenges facing the development and implementation of eGovernment initiatives, which avails a common platform for emerging eGovernments to exchange and learn from successful experiences.
The speakers’ list includes well-renowned speakers and representatives of advanced regional and global eGovernments, along with ICT leaders from the private sector. From the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Deputy Director General at Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) – Information and eGovernment sector will present United Arab Emirates’ experience in m-Government; from Kuwait, Mr. Mohammed Anwar Sheikhaldeen, CTO and Co-Founder of EXA.io will share Kuwait’s eStamp Project; and from Oman, Ms. Seema bint Naser AlKaabi will share National IT Training & Awareness model.
Reflecting on global experiences, Mr. Andrew Stott – who led the work on UK’s eGovernment wrote the first ICT strategy in 1977 – will shed lights on key issues related to the final stage of UK’s eGovernment; Mr. Robert Chandler, Vice President of Business Development for NIC Inc., will focus on the methodology used by the State of Utah, USA; Kim Andreasson, advisor to the United Nations and Managing Director of DAKA advisory AB, will pinpoint on Global eGovernment Trends in the UN Survey; form Singapore, Mr. Tan Lark Yang, Group Director at IDA International Pte. Ltd will reflect on Singapore’s eGovernment, key enabler towards a business-friendly Nation; and from Denmark, Mr. Christian Vindinge Rasmussen co-founder and first chairman of the independent eGovernment think tank eGovAlliance will demonstrate Denmark’s experience of eProcurement Adoption in the public sector. Mr. Mihir Gautam Shah, Director of Infrastructure Advisory practice of KPMG in Qatar and Bahrain, will discuss Public Private Partnership with Government.
Notably, eGA’s workshop – presented by eGA Vice CEO Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Al-Khaja – will highlight the eGovernment model, objectives and projects to success. Moreover, the workshop will focus on key projects such as the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), the model of Project Governance, along with other leading projects.
Eight specialized workshops, each comprise 16 hours arranged in two days, will be running over the second and third day (22nd & 23rd April) of the forum. They will be under the supervision and follow-up of the eGovernment Authority and in coordination with NGOs, specialized institutes and international organizations. All workshops will be organized at Bahrain International Circuit with the participation of keynote speakers and experts from across the globe.
