Microsoft inks cross-licensing agreement with Canon
Microsoft Corp has signed a patent cross-licensing agreement with Japan’s Canon Inc., aimed at avoiding the risk of unnecessary patent lawsuits and enable companies to focus on offering inventive technologies. The cross-licensing deal covers a broad range of products and technologies, including certain digital imaging and mobile consumer products. According to the terms of the agreement, Microsoft and Canon will be able to access each other’s patent portfolios. The specific terms and conditions of the agreement have not been disclosed.
