OCERT Ambassadors alert social media users in its third meet
The information technology authority (ITA) represented by Oman’s National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT) organized the third OCERT Ambassadors gathering in association with Salalah College of Technology at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Salalah.
The gathering held under the patronage of Shiekh Abdullah Salem Mahad Al Rawas, Chirman of branch committee at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the governorate of Dhofar attended by a number of IT experts, academics as well as students.
The gathering discussed social media and its negative impact due to misuse and its legal consequences. The gathering also stressed on the important role of society to eliminate ill practices on the social media and further contributes to be part on the solution for a better internet environment.
The aim of the OCERT Ambassadors Program is to broaden OCERT’s knowledge sharing with the public, college students and local information security professionals. Hence, the gathering was organized to showcase ambassadors’ efforts achieved since the program was launched in 2011, highlight the second half of 2014 plan and activities, honor and recognize active ambassadors and receive ambassadors’ comments, feedback, opinions and ideas to further develop the program.
