Qatar: Tuesday, May 24 - 2011 @ 12:13

Dell, as gold sponsor in partnership with Intel, is one of several leading technology companies supporting this event helping to sustain momentum and make it a regular event. Computer Arabia, a Qatari company and Dell partner, will also be participating. The event, organised by ictQATAR, aims to position Qatar as a regional hub for technology and innovation, including acting as a forum for industry leaders to discover suitable technologies as well as act as a local platform for international players to enter the GCC markets.

As part of the company’s participation, Basil Ayass, Enterprise Product Manager for Dell, will take part in the afternoon session on 25th May entitled “Cloud Computing – From Fantasy To Reality”. Dell’s growing solutions portfolio offers customers of all sizes the opportunity to compete effectively in this expanding market, with an IT infrastructure that can scale quickly to meet dynamic business demands and maximize utilization of IT investment. Intelligent data management (IDM) is a key area where Dell has clear solutions to offer customers. Interested parties should visit the Dell and Intel booth where they can discuss with product experts on how best to deploy these technologies and others for business success.

Aiming to attract ICT innovators and pioneers from across the region, ictQATAR have managed to bring together an attractive 3-day schedule of workshops covering a diverse range of topics from the localization of online content and local entrepreneurial case studies to more global issues of ICT across e-government and broadband legislation. As well as the aspirational ICT entrepreneur, QITCOM should bring investors, C-level managers, developers and IT network professionals together, facilitating knowledge and experience sharing across the industry.

In recognition of individuals and institutions that have contributed to the advancement and implementation of technology in Qatar and the region, QITCOM has created an awards program that will take place during the closing ceremony of the event. Candidates to win these awards are carefully selected by a special Advisory Committee formed by key stakeholders and thought leaders in the ICT industry. The awards will span the following categories: innovation, deployment and services, adoption, e-services and accessibility. This program will subsequently become a year-long event with specific milestones and deliverables that organizations and individuals compete to achieve.

“We are working with leaders in ICT across the region to deliver open, capable and affordable solutions that enable our customers both locally and internationally to develop their IT systems to a higher and more efficient level. Dell is in a prime position right now where we are at the cutting edge of technology and experience on a daily basis exactly what our customers want their systems to do. QITCOM will allow us to learn from and educate new and existing customers, and ultimately allow them to take full advantage of the latest technologies. This helps them focus on innovation and business success with minimum technological effort,” said Basil Ayass, Enterprise Product Manager for Dell Middle East.
