DEWA marks UAE-first with launch of bill payment via Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 watches

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has added a bill-payment feature to its smart app on Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 watches, shortly after launching the app in the Galaxy Gear Manager. The new service reflects DEWA’s commitment to developing its services and providing innovative services to its customers through different smart devices. It also underlines DEWA’s continuous efforts to leverage the latest and best technologies to service its customers and partners, and enable them to use its services anytime, anywhere.

DEWA’s smart application is the first government app in the UAE to be provided on Samsung Gear Manager. According to Samsung, DEWA was the first government department to develop and launch an application that is compatible with Samsung Galaxy Gear 1 and 2 smart watches.

DEWA’s app on Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 offers several services and features, including access to the inspirational quotes of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. DEWA’s customers can enquire about their bills, find customer service centres, contact numbers, and several services and features that save time and effort for DEWA’s customers and partners.

“At DEWA, we provide pioneering services and applications that support our objective to reach our customers anytime, anywhere. Customers can now use Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smart watches to gain instant and easy access to our services and make payments securely using their favourite smart devices to complete their transactions. These efforts will help us to achieve our goal to complement smart transformation in the UAE and achieve the vision of our wise leadership,” said Moza Al Akraf, Acting CIO at DEWA.

“DEWA managed to transform all its services into smart services less than a year after the announcement of the smart transformation in the UAE to offer all government services through smart devices to add people’s happiness and welfare. DEWA’s achievement to offer various services and features through its smart app is a powerful incentive for us to enhance our ability to keep up with developments, overcome difficulties, and provide our smart services to all residents of Dubai to fulfil their daily and future needs,” added Al Akraf.

DEWA’s application is supported on Apple, Android, and BlackBerry platforms, dewa.gov.ae, as well as on Windows, Windows phone, Samsung home entertainment systems, and eLife for Etisalat.
