DEWA participates in UAE celebrations of 15th National Day of Environment

DEWA launched an internal outreach campaign and competition for the most environmentally-expressive photograph, as part of its efforts to promote awareness on conserving the environment and developing it sustainably.

DEWA highlights the National Day of Environment as an important annual occasion, which focuses on the most crucial environmental matters and promotes environmental awareness.

“DEWA is keen to promote and consolidate the concept of the sustainable environment, which is part and parcel of the comprehensive development witnessed by the UAE, through the dissemination of a careful outreach plan, representing one of the pillars of DEWA’s ambitious strategy to conserve the environment, among all its employees and customers. Furthermore, DEWA develops partnerships with different segments of society to develop the march of environmental work through campaigns of comprehensive awareness to disseminate the culture of electricity, water, and environmental conservation,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA has launched integrated strategic programmes to communicate with its customers as it believes in the importance of disseminating awareness on electricity and water conservation in reducing carbon emissions and global warming. DEWA has launched outreach campaigns through all mass communications, either traditional or innovative, to disseminate a culture of the sensible consumption of all resources and utilities, so as to increase the awareness of all customers segments in Dubai about conserving natural resources and securing a sustainable environment on the Earth,” added His Excellency.

His Excellency focused on initiatives launched by DEWA to conserve the environment, such as green buildings, Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence and using renewable energy (solar energy) in addition to recycling sewerage water and the safe disposal of engine oils (recycling engine oils).

DEWA has made another new distinguished achievement, having obtained the 5-Star Certificate in the field of environment from The British Safety Council to be the first UAE utility to have won this certificate. This unprecedented achievement is a culmination of DEWA’s relentless efforts to promote work place and is in line with its strategy to consolidate and disseminate the culture of environmental safety among its employees, contractors and all segments of customers.
