The Council has reviewed the matters that were discussed and approved at the previous meeting and are now being implemented.
Afterwards, the Council discussed the items on the meeting’s agenda. The first of these items is related to the final submitted recommendations of Dubai Integrated Gas Strategy 2030 as part of the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES), which was approved by the members of the Council and are now at the stage of implementation as this will constitute the largest part of Dubai’s energy with a percentage of 71% in 2030.
During the meeting, DEWA presented on loss of electricity grids. The presentation showed that loss in the grids has reached 3.49% in 2011 in comparison to 6% in developed countries.
The presentation focused on the reliability and efficiency of the infrastructure of Dubai’s electricity grids and the adopted cutting-edge technologies, which culminated in this remarkable achievement.
Also, other matters related to developing and expanding gas infrastructure in Dubai were tackled so as to secure gas supplies.
Moreover, the progress made by the Council in terms of building up capabilities as well as other items on the meeting’s agenda have been reviewed as part of the Council’s plan for current year.
“The meeting has focused on the final submitted recommendations of the Dubai Integrated Gas Strategy 2030 and now they are at the stage of implementation in terms of infrastructure and supply,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the SCE, following the meeting.
“The financial mechanism of financing projects related to the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 has been discussed. Also, the objectives that are intended to be achieved through energy models in energy supply and demand side have been reviewed,” added His Excellency.
“The meeting has also tackled clean coal strategy as the first stage of selecting most appropriate locations of the project of clean coal power station is now finished,” said His Excellency.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer has reviewed the progress of the preparations for the World Energy Forum 2012 (WEF), which will be held for the first time out of New York in the Emirate of Dubai from 22nd to 24th October of this year. The Higher Committee of the Forum has recently held its second meeting and reviewed the marketing plan of this high-profile event as well as the other security and logistic preparations.
