Women’s Committee at DEWA organises social, educational and entertaining summer programmes for its employees

The programme included a host of outreach and educational lectures that covered topics related to public health and the importance of adopting healthy life styles.

One of these lectures was entitled ‘Controlling a healthy weight’ and it tackled ways of maintaining a healthy weight and how to lose or increase weight in a healthy manner.

Another lecture was entitled ‘Look after your Spine’ that discussed methods to keep the backbone healthy as well as the most important physical activities and health practices to be performed to avoid back problems. This event also included a primary examination of the spines and the weight of participating female employees.

Also, the Committee held an outreach lecture, conducted by specialists, about methods to keep healthy skin during summer to avoid the problems of sun and humidity exposure in Dubai. The programme also included crafts workshops, held in collaboration with Dubai Women Association, on how to make accessories and jewellery. These workshops were welcomed and praised by all the participants. Another workshop tackled sewing and preparing new-borns’ clothes, and making some gifts for such occasions.

As for entertainment, the events included a cinema day for DEWA female employees as there was an exclusive cinema show for 120 DEWA employees at Grand Cineplex near Grand Hyatt Dubai. This represents an interactive platform to promote the spirit of participation and communication among employees, with the cinema theatre was dedicated solely for those employees, who were provided with free drinks and snacks. The event also witnessed bowling activities with the participation of over 50 employees, followed by lunch for participants.

Also, the Committee organised a week under the theme ‘Beat Summer Heat,’ where cold beverages and ice cream kiosks were installed at DEWA Head Office, Al Quoz, and Al Hudaibah. Due to the wide participation of all employees, DEWA intends to expand such initiatives on an annual basis to cover all the other branches.

“In line with DEWA’s strategy, Women’s Committee always seeks to organise innovative initiatives to promote social interaction and communication among its employees at all levels in order to empower its ladies and provide them with practical, social and human support,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, VP – M&CC, and Chairperson of Women’s Committee.

“Thanks to efforts made in this regard, female employee’s satisfaction about the activities and events exceeded 80% as shown by the annual survey conducted by the Committee. A lot of private and public organizations, either UAE or from the region, who interested in women’s issues and seek make use of DEWA’s experience in this field,” added Al Mehairi.

DEWA Women’s Committee organises several summer programmes and events all the year round as part of its strategic plan to provide a positive and interactive environment for its employees.
