The camp was a huge success among the underprivileged Indian workers living in the UAE, many of whom belong to a salary income group of less than AED 2,000/- per month and are not covered by any medical insurance.
Specialist doctors across various medical capacities from ASTER Medical Centres & Hospital, including General Physician, Dentist, ENT Specialist, Pulmonologist, Gastroenterology and a Psychologist and Optometrist were available to attend to the healthcare needs of the attendees. Apart from the general check-ups and healthcare advisory services, the participants were also provided with free medicines.
Shri. MP Singh, Consul – Labour Welfare, said: “Unfortunately, a huge number of people cannot afford regular checkups and medications. We appreciate the support extended by ASTER and Malabar Gold to ensure that free healthcare consultation services, including Diagnostics & Medicines are offered to the underprivileged, screened by committee of committed volunteers of Indian Ladies Association (ILA). It is our privilege to be able to extend our supports to them through such initiatives.”
Commenting on the camp, Mrs. Sangeetha Verma, President, Indian Ladies Association, said: “We are happy with the response the camp has received. The main aim behind our effort is that good healthcare is provided to those who really need it. We urge the people of the low income brackets to regularly attend our camps and make use of the services being offered.”
The medical camp was part of the ASTER Community Good Health Programme (CGHP), under DM Healthcare. The health camp is part of an on-going program that organizes free camps every quarter in association with ILA, in addition to its fortnightly Free Medical Clinic at Consulate Premises, ensuring that the needy are able to avail of its services on a regular basis.
