India Consulate offers free medical check-ups

Nine specialist doctors from various faculties of the ASTER – Medical Centres and Hospital, attended to the various healthcare needs of the camp attendees. Apart from the general check-ups and healthcare advisory services, the participants were also provided with free medicine through ASTER pharmacies by the CSR partner Malabar Gold.

Mrs. Sangeetha Verma, President of Indian Ladies Association, said: “We are very pleased to note that a large number of people availed the services organized at the medical camp. We are very happy and overwhelmed with the support received from the DM Healthcare. We plan to organize at least one such medical camp every quarter, with the next one scheduled for January 2012”. Indian Ladies Association (ILA) is one of the active ladies voluntary association registered under the ICWC (Indian Community Welfare Committee) under Consul General of India.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman, DM Healthcare, said: “It has been our constant Endeavour to provide healthcare services to the maximum number of people. This initiative with the Indian Ladies Association will go a long way in helping people, especially the ones in the underprivileged category, to avail expert healthcare advice and treatment. Through Aster’s Community Good Health Programme, we would continue to strive to work towards a healthy and health conscious community.”

The Consulate General of India, Dubai, has announced that the free medical clinic in its premises, being organized with support from ASTER would continue. The clinic was started as a pilot project in April 2011. Malabar Gold has been giving free medicines at the clinic. The leading jewellery retailer would continue its support of the medical health camp.

Mr. Sanjay Verma, Honorable Consul General of India, Dubai, said: “The free medical services at the consulate has been extending free medical aid to the under privileged people from Dubai and the other northern emirates. We are thankful to DM Healthcare and Malabar Gold for supporting us in organizing this initiative”. The health clinic will continue to function every first and third Wednesdays of every month at the premises of the Consulate and free medical checkups and medicines will be provided to all needy Indian workers, with critical focus on those working in labor intensive areas, who require such health services more than anybody else.
