Organisers of the major conference said they received an enthusiastic response from investors and trade associations during their final lap of road-shows in Tunisia and Egypt last week.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Mutaiwee, Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “In Tunisia, we received 20 investment projects to be put up for discussion at the conference. In addition, a delegation of 40 Tunisian companies led by H.E. Dr. Ahmad Mahjoob, Secretary of State to Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies in charge of IT, confirmed its participation.”
The press conference held at the Tunisian Trade & Exhibition Centre was addressed by Dr Elias Ghantous, Secretary General of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce for Industry, Agriculture and Commerce for Arab Countries and Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Mutaiwee, Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Mohammed Al Sahrawi from Tunisian Union for Commerce, Industry & Handicrafts and Mr. Ha’adi bin Ramadan from Centre for Export Promotion,Tunis.
H.E. Dr. Ahmad Mahjoob will chair a session on “Legal Supportive Environment for Investment in IT” at the 9th Conference for Arab Investors and Businessmen; while a representative from the Tunisian Union for Commerce, Industry & Handicrafts will be addressing the conference on “The Tunisian Experience in Communication and IT.”
The Cairo press conference held at the Arab League General Secretariat was addressed by Dr. Mou’tassem Souleiman, Director of Finance, Trade & Industry, Arab League General Secretariat and Mr. Al Mutaiwee, and received a huge response from different companies, indicating strong participation from Egyptian companies.
A high-level official Egyptian delegation will also be participating in the conference. H.E. Engineer Ra’afat Radwan, Chairman, Information and Decision Support Centre, Council of Ministers, Egypt, will speak on “Importance of IT in Economic Modernisation,” while H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al Ghamarawy, Chairman, General Authority for Investment & Free Zones, Egypt, will speak on “Investment Opportunities in Egypt.”
Mr. Al Mutaiwee invited businessmen and investors to take part in the important conference which will be attended by around 700 delegates, including Ministers, senior officials and representatives of Government bodies in Arab countries and Chairmen and Managing Directors from private sector companies.
Mr. Al Mutaiwee said a high-powered delegation from Algeria, made up of representatives from private companies and the public sector, have also confirmed participation in the conference.
There has been a strong response from other Gulf countries following road-shows held earlier this month in Riyadh, Kuwait, Beirut and Amman as part of the promotional activity.
