Foreign delegates to participate in Dubai

United Arab Emirates: Sunday, October 21 - 2001 @ 18:20

The foreign participants will join a large number of leading Arab personalities and delegates from the Arab world at the major conference to be held at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) under the theme “Invest in IT.”

Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Mutaiwee, Director General of DCCI, said: “We are delighted with the response from the international business community, in addition to strong participation from Arab countries. The Arab Italian Chamber of Commerce will be sending a large delegation. We are in touch with a number of other joint Arab chambers of commerce to increase foreign participation in the conference.”

“The interest shown by international participants will give the conference a new edge, and Arab investors will get an opportunity to learn from the experience of global investors,” Mr. Mutaiwee added.

Mr Ahmad Abdul Rahman Al Banna, Assistant Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Studies and International Affairs, said: “ We are pleased to welcome participation from companies from Europe and the United States. Their presence will add to the prestige of this major conference, and allow fruitful interaction that will be mutually beneficial.”

Among the many foreign firms that have confirmed their participation is the Atlantic Asset Management Bank, Zurich.

Mr. Nicolas A. Maurice, Managing Director of Atlantic Asset Management Bank, Zurich, said: “The conference is an excellent opportunity to establish and maintain contacts with people from the Arab world to exchange ideas or experiences in the IT sector.”

“This is a crucial period for IT because this is the time to build a strong base. Information technology is today a tricky issue, and the investor has to carefully balance the risk and reward of each specific product / application.

“The IT revolution will very likely follow the path of the industrial revolution, leaving just a handful of dominating players and a vast number of forgotten (bankrupt or taken over) entrepreneurs,” Mr. Maurice said.
