Abdul Rahman G. Al-Mutaiwee, DCCI Director General, received the Sudanese delegation that included Hassan Merghani Mahmood, Director General, Executive Ministerial Office, Osman Hamad M. Khair, Director General, Sudan Financial Services Co. Ltd. and Hussain Elamin El Fadil, Deputy Consul General of Sudan in Dubai.
Al-Mutaiwee affirmed the strategic importance of Sudan in all economic sectors including the agricultural sector thanks to the land fertility there, which is named “the food basket of the Arab world.” He stressed that the Sudanese government represented by the economic circles should fight the corruption, reduce bureaucracy, develop financial sectors and encourage transparency in executing trade transactions that push more investors to come down to Sudan.
“This visit aims at having access through DCCI as an important agency, to the leading experience of Dubai, as well as attracting investments from the UAE to contribute to the successful Islamic securities in Sudan, as these securities represent a comprehensive overlook onto the Sudanese economy performance at all economic, trade and financial levels and an opportunity the two sides can benefit from,” said Eltegani.
Dubai’s non-oil trade with Sudan marked AED896.7 million in 2004, its re-exports to Sudan were AED551.2 million, its exports to Sudan were AED156.8 million, while Dubai’s imports from there were AED188.7 million in the same year.
