In a step that reinforces its commitment to sustainability, Lite-Tech Industries, a subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC and a joint venture with Philips Lighting BV, announced plans to offer the entire range of energy-efficient LED lighting products and technology across the Middle East.
The company, a pioneer in the regional lighting industry, introduced its revolutionary LED lighting solutions at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition [WETEX] 2014, currently under way in Dubai. The showcase is part of the company’s strategy to convert all traditional lighting products into LED in the short-term.
The state-of-the-art LED luminaires from Lite-Tech Industries lead to up to 85% energy savings, compared to traditional light solutions with a similar or improved light output. The LED light products, suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, includes down lights and panel lights for office, institutions, shopping malls, and spot lights for hotel applications, among others.
Engr. Khalid Nashashibi, General Manager of Lite-Tech Industries, said: “The launch of the LED lighting technology is a major step forward in our commitment to reduce the carbon footprint. The new LED lighting solutions from Lite-Tech offer significant energy savings and long lifetime, reducing energy consumption by over 85% compared to incandescent and halogen lamps. This offers monetary security for investors since they are dealing with an entity supported technically from a world leader as Philips Lighting. This move is a significant step in line with the Dubai government’s initiatives towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future.”
The down lights from Lite-Tech have a strong and growing market across the Middle East, both in the form of new projects under way across the region, as well as retrofits, whereby the existing traditional lights can be directly replaced with the new range of energy-efficient LED lamps from Lite-Tech.
He added: “The LED lighting market is growing by approximately 10% year-on-year across the region, and thus offers us a huge growth opportunity. Regionally, LED takes up only about 15% to 20% of the lighting industry, but it is still way below the global average of approximately 60% market share that the LED enjoys.”
On an average, LED tubes have a significantly longer life span of 60,000 hours, compared to a traditional fluorescent tube lasting 10-15,000 hours. LED lights also have a wider optimum temperature range.
