The training programme started on Monday, will last until Thursday. The training, which is being conducted by a group of professionals from Indianapolis Children’s Museum in the USA, include training in Education Programming, Marketing, Visitor Services, Fund Development, Board Development, Board Governance, and Exhibit Maintenance.
The training course is being conducted as part of the series of training programmes organized by the civic body for the year 2007.
Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zarouni, Head of Human Resources Development Section in the Personnel Department said the training in Education Programming is aimed at enabling the participants manage and develop partnerships with schools, build curriculum based programmes, and standards for education programmes.
He said the training in Marketing will enable the participants to create and implement a marketing plan for Children’s City, marketing/advertising strategies and implementation, public/media relations strategies and implementation and how to assess public and visitor perceptions of Children’s City.
Al Zarouni said training in Visitor Services will teach them how to organize visitor services, create and implement an operations plan for visitor services and handling disabled visitors.
He said in the session on Fund Development, Board Development, Board Governance, the participants will be taught ten responsibilities of board members, nurturing an effective board and the relationship between staff and board.
During the Exhibit Maintenance session, the Children’s City employees will be trained on policy and plan on maintenance for children’s city, preventive and corrective maintenance.
The Municipality also organized a First-Aid training programme for the inspectors in the Public Health Department on Sunday and Monday.
Al Zarouni said the course provided the participants with first-aid skills, basic first-aid knowledge to be applied in different situations and conditions in order to enable them to respond to emergency calls and situations on site.
Another training course was held from Sunday to Tuesday on international standards in auditing. The course, meant for employees in the Finance Department, was aimed at introducing the participants the international auditing standards issued by professional organizations world wide, briefing them about the major difficulties faced by auditors, enhancing their skills in preparing effective audit reports as per international standards.
A third training course was held from Sunday to Tuesday titled, “Seven Innovation Tools,” which was attended by a group of heads of Sections and Units. The course was aimed at enabling the participants apply innovation techniques and skills for innovation and to improve work processes, solve daily problems at organizational, department, family and personal level and lead ‘Quick & Effective Decision Making’ to meet the current business challenges and requirements.
A fourth training course is in progress for administrative officers, titled, “Skills in delivering effective presentations.” The course, held from Sunday to Thursday, will teach the participants the personal factors in the process of presentations and speeches, presentation and debate methods and specialized and effective time management skills. The course will also teach them the grammar rules and use of clear and perfect language.
