The Environment Department of Dubai Municipality in cooperation with the Customer Relations Department has recently organized a customers’ forum for private sewage treatment plants under the slogan ‘Towards Sustainable Environmental Development’ in Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai.
More than 50 owners of private sewage treatment plants in the emirate of Dubai attended the forum. Welcoming the representatives, Eng. Alya AbdulRaheem Al-Harmoodi director of environment department appreciated the industrial companies for their constant cooperation in complying with the environmental standards considering the importance of environment protection the emirate of Dubai.
Laws and regulations related water treatment plants, environmental requirements and specifications and various procedures related to them were discussed.
Procedures related to obtaining environment permits as well as information pertaining to inspection system were also discussed in detail.
The organizing of the forum came out of civic body’s commitment towards protecting environment as water treatment plants hold a good stake in the efforts to ensure unpolluted environment.
It also aimed at strengthening the communication with different categories of customers as well as to open the door of constructive discussion and dialogue through the most effective channels guaranteeing the diversified needs of customers.
During the forum, a presentation was held on ‘Private Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) in the Emirate of Dubai’ by Eng. Gregorio Balerite followed by another titled ‘Inspection Procedures – Private Sewage Treatment Plants’ by Dr. Santhosh Kumar, in which they shed light on benefits of sewage treatment, environmental issues, regulatory permit requirements.
The company representatives actively participated in the open discussion introducing their best practices and sharing experiences, which led to a memorable and fruitful session.
