The delegation was briefed on the preparations for the latest cycle of the Dubai International Award for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment (DIABP).
Welcoming the visiting delegation, Al Shamsi stressed the importance of more global participation in the award, which is aimed at enhancing the living conditions of the human beings. He also praised the participation of Azerbaijan in the activities of the award.
He said the DIABP aims at exchange of knowledge and expertise between the countries of the world by projecting the best living environment submitted by government establishments and organisations as well as non-governmental organisations.
Al Shamsi pointed out that the DIABP endeavours to popularize those best practices in order to provide all others maximum benefit out of it.
He recalled that the DIABP was established in 1995 by a decree from Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and aims at encouraging, recognizing and enhancing awareness of outstanding and sustainable achievements in improving the quality of life in urban and rural settlements.
The Award is open to all organizations and individuals from governments, local authorities, international non-governmental and community-based organizations, the private sector and other representatives of civil society. Each one of the 10 winners would receive a monetary prize of US$30,000 in addition to a certificate and a trophy depicting the award logo, the Barjeel (Wind Tower).
He said that a good number of organisations and educational institutions worldwide have been benefited by the award by getting in touch with the original sources of these winning practices directly to get the maximum expertise and knowledge.
The Baku delegation extended their gratitude and praised the efforts of the DIABP organizers. They also congratulated those who participate in the current cycle of the award and wished them good luck.
