Over 2,000 media persons and academicians register online to participate in 9th Arab Media Forum

Organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, AMF 2010 will be held from 12-13 May at The Atlantis-Palm. The event will draw over 350 guests from 25 different nationalities and feature 70 speakers in the main sessions and workshops.

The two-day meet will include a glittering ceremony for the Sheikh Majid Media Awards on the first day, while winners of the Arab Journalism Awards, the region’s most coveted recognition for journalistic excellence, will be honoured on the second day to mark the conclusion of AMF 2010.
Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director, Dubai Press Club, said: “The increasing numbers of registrations seeking participation at the forum validates its status in the media industry as a must-attend annual calendar event. We are extremely encouraged by this response and are relentlessly working towards delivering a results-oriented event that will offer solutions for taking the industry forward in the Arab world.”

Approximately 30% of the participants registered for AMF 2010 are from newspapers, 25% comprises universities students, while nearly 15% are from the broadcast segment. Over 10% will represent online and print periodicals, 8% media photographers, as well as technical and producers, 7% from news wires and 5% from different institutions and media authorities and other interested audience.

Over 60 UAE national volunteers from media and communications colleges in the UAE universities as well as government and private sector institutions will extend ground support to the core DPC team. In addition to welcoming the delegates from all over the world, the volunteers are also mandated to handle logistics requirements and oversee the Media Centre at the forum.

Bin Fahad added: “We have set up a well-equipped Media Centre next to the Atlantis Ballroom to help journalists file regular updates on the event. The centre will offer facilities including laptops, Internet connectivity, printers, photocopiers as well as fax services.

“A dedicated area has been allocated for media interviews. Team members from Dubai Press Club team will be on hand to extend assistance in providing information, photos, and media data.”
The agenda for AMF 2010 is available online, offering details on the topics of discussions and speakers’ names for all of the sessions and workshops.
