Dubai Women Establishment concludes Professional Development Session on “Leading Cross-Cultural Communication” in collaboration with Protocol School of Washington

Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) and The Protocol School of Washington (PSOW) have concluded the Professional Development program that revolved around ‘Leading Cross-Cultural Communication’. In line with the DWE’s strategic goal to promote leadership qualities amongst working women and include activities and training aimed at enhancing individual performance and career development of women. The PD sessions serve a critical pillar in empowering individuals by offering hands-on-training that helps them gain stronger insights.

On the occasion, Hessa Tahlak, Director of Development, Research & Projects Department at Dubai Women Establishment said: “The Professional Development Session has achieved remarkable success within the past year, where positive feedback was received from the participants. DWE organised the program one more time to focus on Leading Cross-Cultural Communication.”

Tahlak added, “The Professional Development offered by Dubai Women Establishment is an opportunity for women to develop their understanding skills with diverse cultural background, cultivate cross-cultural relationships, and understand key dimensions of communication style and how to communicate with their employees and executives from other cultures. In addition, the program is in collaboration with specialized domestic and international institution and organisations”.

From her end, Pamela Eyring, President of Protocol School of Washington said: “This is the first time we organize a dedicated program for Senior Emirati Women, and I was pleased to see their interest and participation during the program.”

She added “I would like to thank Dubai Women Establishment team for their support during the program.”

In addition, Saeed Al-Salkhadi, Managing Director of Middle East Regional Office, Protocol School of Washington said: “Our partnership with Dubai Women Establishment has evolved to cater for several categories and needs from professional development aspect. We look forward to continue supporting DWE role in empowering the Emirati Women”.

Focusing on the topic of ‘Leading Cross-Cultural Communication’, the 2-day PD session was hosted at The H Hotel in Dubai by Robert Hickey, Deputy Director of the Protocol School of Washington and Sue Gaulke top-notch trainer that has been recognized throughout the industry.

The course was attended by 30 participants from different governmental and private sectors in two batches. The agenda covered Global Communications and Diplomacy and Cross-Cultural Style Assessment. It also consisted of learning the art of Presentations and Videotaping, Coaching, Memorable Presenter Research, Mind Mapping, and Verbal and Non Verbal Skills.

The PD sessions, which were launched in 2008, have so far covered a number of pertinent issues that women face when the venture out into the work place and have identified and discusses problems related to personality dimensions and group dynamics, setting boundaries and dealing with diversity issues in the workplace.
