The Dubai International Boat Show 2014 continues to showcase the latest technologies in leisure marine, housing some of the most interesting and cutting-edge vessels and products from around the globe.

Solving the problem of a shortage of space onboard, the unique Wider 42’ yacht features a solution, which is as simple as it is clever – widening out by means of extensions on either side of the hull, doubling the usable surface and significantly increasing the yacht’s stability. The mobile extensions are opened and closed by means of an automatic, electronically controlled system, with the operation taking just 12 seconds to complete.

The Quadski, the world’s first high speed amphibian (HSA) personal watercraft, is a combination of between a quad bike and a jetski, and is touted as the next big superyacht toy. The Quadski is able to reach speeds of 45mph on both water and land, and transitions between them in seconds, powered by GIBBS breakthrough technology. At the push of a button, the Quadski’s wheels deploy when approaching land and retract after entering water. Previously, no commercial amphibian has been able to exceed 10mph on water.

The Iguana 29, another amphibious vessel, has no need for marina berths and trailers. The iguana’s onshore drive system is controlled using a smart command; it can be deployed in seconds or quickly folded away into the sides of the boat without compromising the vessel’s sleek lines. The amphibious boat is capable of climbing an 11 degree slope and can reach 7km/h on land. At sea, the Iguana can reach high cruising speeds of over 35 knots.

Hawkes Ocean Technologies introduced its next generation DeepFlight Hydrobatic Craft at the 22nd edition of the Dubai International Boat Show. The two models, The DeepFlight Black Hawk – for solo pilots – and the next generation 2-seater DeepFlight Super Falcon Mark II provide underwater flight experiences for the recreational and private owner market. Small numbers of the innovative underwater high performance craft are available for preorders for the 2014-2015 run of models at the Dubai International Boat Show.

The unique GS4 ELECTRIC e-xclusive electric boat – designed, manufactured and assembled entirely in Italy with the latest generation 100% recyclable material – represents state of the art design and sustainability. Capable of holding four passengers, the ELECTRIC e-xclusive is capable of running for three hours at a top speed of four knots, in silence, until needing to be recharged.

The 2014 Dubai International Boat Show, taking place at the Dubai International Marine Club – Mina Seyahi, runs from 4 – 8 March, and is open to trade visitors and the general public from 3pm – 9:30pm daily.
