Singapore Consul General visits Jafza

He was received at the Free Zone by Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, Deputy CEO of Jafza and Chief Commercial Officer of Economic Zones World (EZW), the parent company of Jafza.

Ibrahim Al Janahi welcoming HE the Consul General, on his part, stressed the need to strengthen commercial ties between Singapore and Jafza. He said:

“Singapore is one of our key trading partners. In the last ten years the number of Singaporean companies in the Free Zone has more than quadrupled to reach 70. The bilateral trade has also been growing at a steady pace. During 2009 and 2011 the trade between Singapore and Jafza has gone up 16%. In 2012 the trade volume between the two sides is estimated to have crossed Dhs3.3bn, an increase of 17% over the same period in the preceding year. The bilateral trade has possibilities to grow at much faster pace. We welcome HE the Consul General’s initiative.”

“The Middle East is one of the fastest growing regions in the world. The increased focus of the countries in the region on building infrastructure and non-oil based revenue generation capabilities, offers huge opportunities for Singaporean investors. Strengthening of bilateral commercial relations between the Asia’s two leading trade and business hubs makes huge sense,” he added.

Both the officials discussed ways to make Jafza-Singapore business ties and trade relations increasingly stronger.

During the meeting Al Janahi briefed the Consul General on Jafza’s value proposition as the region’s trade and logistics hub and the Free Zone’s world-class integrated infrastructure and one-stop-shop services.

He also highlighted Jafza’s recent road show in Singapore, which elicited a very strong interest from Singaporean business community in Jafza facilities.

UAE is the 2nd largest trading partner of Singapore in the Middle East. The total trade from the UAE into Singapore comprises crude and refined oil, polymers of ethylene and aluminum. The total exports from Singapore into UAE include jewelry and telecom equipment. Huge opportunities are available for Singaporean companies in the region in infrastructure, technology and other sectors.
