Sub-committee of Ukrainian Parliament visits JAFZA

This came during the delegation’s visit to Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) when they met with Ibrahim Mohammed Al Janahi, Regional Manager of Europe and Abdul Aziz Badri, Customer Services Specialist along with a number of other officials in JAFZA.

The 35-member delegation was led by Vlodymyr Skomarovsky, head of the sub-committee of the Parliament of Ukraine on External activity and tax legislation. They discussed the possibilities of Ukrainian free economic zones and special territories and the prospective of cooperation with the free zones in the UAE.

Al Janahi welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the history of JAFZA and the Dubai pioneer experiment on the Free zones to attract investment. He said JAFZA has won the “Best developed Free Zone in the World” award, granted by the World Union of Free Zones, for their efforts in developing the zone’s infrastructure and in providing best services and facilities to customers.

Al Janahi explained the customs’ nature of work and how the systems have been followed to clear goods in the free zone. He also spoke about the facilities and services offered in the free zone for new companies.

“JAFZA ensures a successful investment environment for the companies that able them to establish a successful business. The development of economic and trade relations with Ukriane can be improved in cooperation with the trade and manufacturing companies and investment in the free zone,” he emphasized.

Mr. Grigori, head of the representative office of the Russian of Commerce in JAFZA, said: “The Ukrainian companies have huge capacities that need to focus about and promote their products in UAE in general and Dubai in particular. There is a number of factories in JAFZA and more will be opened too.”

Dr. Chernyak, head of Antimonopoly Activity and Free economic zones and priority territories development, said: Our goal is to get knowlede about investment chances in JAFZA and the facilities and services offered there. With this we can increase Ukrainian business in the Middle East.”

The delegation paid a visit to the JAFZA and the Sales Center for Nakheel. They were shown samples of Nakheel’s projects like “Palm Jumeirah”, “Palm Jebel Ali” and “The World”.
