As part of a joint venture with Jordan-based company Salam International, Tejari Jordan will serve the e-procurement needs of both the private and government sectors in Jordan.
The new Tejari Jordan office is an extension of the joint vision shared by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defense Minister, to strengthen the development of technology initiatives in the two countries.
At the launch of Tejari Jordan, Dr. Zu’bi stressed the importance of e-commerce to the Jordanian economy, stating, “Tejari Jordan is a culmination of considerable effort to create sustainable alliances between private sector companies in the region. The launch of Tejari Jordan represents the first in series of partnerships between Jordan and the Emirates, and this new initiative will help unite our efforts to participate more fully in the global economy.”
“The encompassing vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in promoting Dubai as a hub for technology and trade is being realized through innovative projects like Tejari Jordan,” added Dr. Zu’bi.
Sultan bin Sulayem, Tejari’s Chairman, participated in the official launch event in Amman with Ahmad Armoush, Salam’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“Tejari Jordan has been created specifically to enable both the private and government sectors in the country to realize the business benefits facilitated by online procurement, including dramatic cost savings, greater efficiencies and enhanced market reach,” commented Bin Sulayem.
“Embracing these technologies is now a prerequisite for international competitiveness. As a technology-focused nation with an exceptionally strong base of skilled professionals, Jordan is an ideal location in which to establish operations as part of Tejari’s regional expansion,” he continued.
Salam International brings more than 25 years of international trading experience in Jordan to its partnership with Tejari. In accordance with the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Mr. Ahmad Armoush, the CEO of Salam International, saw the need to partner with Tejari and establish its services in Jordan.
“With the significant increases in Jordan’s corporate Internet usage, and important Jordanian initiatives including e-government and electronic transactions legislation, now is the perfect time for organizations in the country to capitalize on the inherent benefits of trading through the Tejari marketplace,” said Mr. Ahmad Armoush, CEO of Salam International.
“Jordanian companies will be able to significantly reduce their procurement costs, and eliminate many paper-based administrative costs while reaching new suppliers and buyers instantly by joining Tejari,” added Armoush.
A number of leading Jordanian companies, including telecommunications providers and banks, have already demonstrated interest in joining Tejari.
Tejari Jordan will be supervised by Mohammed Hindawi, Managing Director, whose responsibilities comprise daily oversight of Tejari’s operations in the Kingdom, including increasing e-commerce awareness among buyers and sellers throughout Jordan.
“The top priorities in Tejari Jordan’s first months of operation include launching a comprehensive, grass-roots campaign to develop greater understanding of Tejari’s functionality, while individually recruiting Jordan’s industry leaders as Tejari trading partners,” commented Hindawi. He added, “The Jordanian market has been primed for Tejari’s entry by an increased focus on e-commerce and e-government initiatives.”
