Discovery Networks Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA), a division of Discovery Communications, the world’s number one Pay-TV programmer, announced the appointment of Amanda Turnbull as the new Managing Director for Fatafeat, the #1 food network across the Middle East.

Beginning her role from May 7, Amanda will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of Fatafeat and become the primary point of contact for day to day business development.

To ensure long term growth and to maximize advertising sales revenues, Amanda will manage the Fatafeat team from their new office in Dubai Studio City and work in partnership with the senior Discovery Networks CEEMA team in London and Warsaw. Amanda will report into James Gibbons, SVP & Country Manager, Emerging Business, Discovery Networks CEEMEA.

“After an extensive search to find the right candidate, we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Amanda to the team, ready to take on the exciting position of Managing Director at Fatafeat,” said James Gibbons.

“Amanda will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of Fatafeat, spearheading the network’s Ad Sales and overall business goals in order to cement its position as the number one food channel across the Middle East.”

“I am thrilled to take on the role of Managing Director at Fatafeat,” said Amanda Turnbull.

“This is an exciting time in the channel’s history and I look forward to working closely with the entire Fatafeat team here in Dubai and in Cairo to take the business to the next level.”

Amanda has over 20 years’ experience in the media industry, having worked in ad sales, marketing and branding for various types of media in territories across the globe, from Asia to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2007, Amanda joined Discovery Networks as Ad sales Director for the Emerging Markets before taking on the role as Integrated Marketing and Client Service Director for the CEEMEA region. During her 5 years at the company, Amanda assumed a lead in developing direct advertising client relationships with 360 degree marketing partnerships, as well as supported the channel team to develop their commercial acumen in articulation of channel brands.

Amanda joins Fatafeat after leaving her role as Group Publishing Director for the Luxury division of Hearst Magazines in the UK, where she lead a team of 60 editorial and commercial staff and delivered growth in revenue, profit and market share.

Discovery Networks International acquired Takhayal Entertainment and its affiliated companies in Dubai and Egypt, including its flagship TV network, Fatafeat in 2012. The transaction was a targeted step by Discovery to further extend its reach in the growing Middle East and North Africa television markets, and to further complement and strengthen its existing portfolio of female-targeted lifestyle PAY TV brands, including TLC, Investigation Discovery and Real Time, which are now available in more than 150 countries outside the U.S.
