Dubai-based Middle East Development is set to build Africa’s tallest skyscraper in Morocco, AFP has reported.
Owned by Saudi businessman Sheikh Tarek Binladen, the company will build the 540m tall Al Noor Tower in Casablanca. Estimated at a cost of $1 billion, it is set to include a shopping mall, a seven-star hotel and a business centre.
With construction expected to begin next year, it will be over twice the size of the continents current tallest building; the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, when completed in 2018.
