Shell celebrates graduation of 260 Saudi youth through its training programme Intilaaqah in Eastern Province

The ceremony to mark the achievement took place at Prince Sultan Centre for Science and Technology (SCITECH) in the presence of Mr. Abdulrhman Al Fuhaid the President of Bab Rizq Jameel and Mr. Patrick Van Daele, Country Chairman of Shell in Saudi Arabia.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Van Daele explained the history and the objectives of Intilaaqah in Saudi Arabia and elaborated on Shell’s commitment to develop young Saudis, “We have a shared responsibility to promote employment opportunities for young people, and we are very pleased that our partnership excellence with different governmental and private organizations in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia has allowed us to deliver several training Intilaaqah courses in support of the Kingdom’s 2020 vision.”

Followed by a speech on the topic “You are a brand” by the Marketing and Media Consultant Mr. Fahad Al Fuhaid explaining how entrepreneurs and their small organizations can achieve excellence in the business world through successful marketing plans.

Nawaf Al Musra, Shell’s Social Investment Manager in the Kingdom, said, “Shell’s Intilaaqah programme has trained more than 6,500 male and female Saudi youth in enterprise development skills since its launch in 2010. The programme help young men and women develop the idea and the structures for a viable business. Shell’s statistics show that 15% of the programme graduates were able to create very successful and stable small enterprises, and each year this number is raising.”

The Intilaaqah programme is a part of Shell’s global LiveWire programme, an initiative first launched in 1982 to address youth unemployment in Scotland. Since its inception, the programme has grown rapidly to become one of the industry’s largest organizations for young entrepreneurs in the world, with a social network of more than 100,000 members. The Intilaaqah programme, a breakthrough in more than 8 countries in the Middle East, has successfully provided support and guidance to young entrepreneurs for nearly 25 years.
