Overwhelmingly, parents stressed the importance of values, rules and the necessity of quality teachers as fundamental to education. Sherborne’s goal is to ensure its pupils learn the value of kindness, respect, manners, concern for others and service to the community. Sherborne Qatar’s teachers are well-versed in the English National Curriculum, experienced internationally and dedicated to developing the comprehensive education and development of pupils.
Sherborne Qatar will welcome 340 primary school students to its west Nasiriyah area facilities for this fall. Primary classes are co-educational and will have a maximum of 20 pupils. Reception through Year 6 students will study the English National Curriculum which recognizes diversity in both ability and interest. It encourages each student, whatever his capabilities, to achieve to the best of his or her abilities and provides a rounded education to prepare pupils for more exciting challenges.
Sherborne Qatar will soon offer classes seeing pupils through the IGCSEs, A Levels and the International Baccalaureate. All classes above Year 7 will be single sex.
Sherborne Qatar pupils have a unique opportunity to become founding members of a significant, celebrated and renowned academic legacy with the school’s opening in Doha. The school originated in 705 and, over centuries, has acquired an outstanding reputation. Sherborne was re-founded and given its Coat of Arms in 1550 under a royal charter granted by Edward VI.
For over 458 years, Sherborne has educated pupils from around the world, leading them into a diverse range of careers at the highest levels. Sherborne is one of England’s oldest and most respected schools, with 10 – 15 students per year admitted to Cambridge and Oxford.
Sherborne Qatar is the fruition of a vision of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Abdullah al-Thani, who desired to found a new school in Doha which would exemplify the ideas and traditions of an historic British independent school.
