Participation in the event forms part of the Authority’s efforts to promote Sharjah as a leading investment and tourist destination in the region and the world.
Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, will lead the Authority’s delegation to the forum.
Shurooq’s participation is aimed at enhancing economic relations with Turkish investment agencies and businesses while promoting the Emirate of Sharjah as a leading investment and tourist destination in the region; and also exploring possible methods of cooperation with other countries participating in the event.
Al Sarkal said: “Turkey is one of the most important economic and tourist hubs in the Asian and European continents and is one of the world’s fastest growing economies over the past years.” He added that bilateral relations between the UAE and Turkey witnessed remarkable development over the past few years as both countries are seeking to increase volume of economic cooperation and trade in the next period.
Al Sarkal stressed that the forum would offer an opportunity to explore ways of developing cooperation in all sectors: “The forum will give us a chance to discuss the possibility of activating cooperation and partnership and setting up joint venture projects between businesses from both countries to open new horizons for economic and investment cooperation.”
He added: “In line with its strategy of promoting Sharjah, the Authority will highlight the Emirate’s attractions, its economic investment opportunities and tourist characteristics, as well as its sophisticated infrastructure and advanced telecom networks which allow easy access to local and international markets.”
He stressed that said the Emirate is a safe haven for investors due to its geographic location as a central link between Asia and Africa. He added: “Shurooq currently embarked on preparing integrated studies on the Emirate of Sharjah and all its property, education, health, retail, hospitality, tourist and investment sectors in collaboration with leading international companies in order to come up with accurate assessment of each sector and defining investment opportunities across the Emirate.
He also highlighted many factors that make Sharjah a stable investment environment that can compete on a global level. He pointed out the country’s geographic location, the infrastructure facilities provided to investors, tax policies and skilled trained labour, as well as a multi-national business community which includes more than 168 nationalities working in various sectors. Al Sarkal said that all these factors place Sharjah amongst the world’s leading investment destinations.
Shurooq was established in 2010 to develop the Emirate’s social, cultural, environmental and economic sectors on the basis of Sharjah’s distinct Arab and Islamic identity, and also to provide the best services to its investors while creating new investment opportunities.
The Authority’s key mission is to evaluate and follow up on tourism, heritage and investment-related infrastructure projects, as well as to overcome obstacles facing investment activities in the Emirate of Sharjah, and to provide all the possible facilities and incentives to help attract more investors.
Shurooq will make the most of the event as a platform to promote its tourism projects, and highlight the already developed ones such as Al Majaz Waterfront, which was opened to the public last year, and the Heart of Sharjah, the largest heritage and tourism project in the region. It will also be promoting the recently announced Khor Fakkan Hotel and Resort as well as a number of future projects which would boost the Emirate’s economic and investment status in the region.
