Italy’s troubled airline, Alitalia has announced its board of directors is to meet today at the company’s office at Rome Fiumicino airport to discuss the negotiations with Etihad Airways, AGI has reported. Last week, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad sent Alitalia a strongly-worded letter clarifying that it intended to continue negotiations without specific guarantees regarding staff cuts, said the report. Etihad will provide no guarantees regarding the renegotiation of the debt, estimated at around €400m, changes to regulations with the liberalisation of Linate airport, and the reduction of space for low-cost airlines. It also offers no guarantees for current shareholders over litigation, the report said.
