Philippines media report showed Oman’s Air’s request to fly direct flights to Manila has been approved, Muscat Daily reported. The Philippines Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) had denied Oman Air the approval last June because of limited infrastructure at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. Expansion work at the airport’s Terminal 1 has paved way for the flights to operate. The news portal of TV5 – www.interaksyon.com – quoted Jose Angel Honrado, general manager of the state-run Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), as saying that approval has been given to requests from Oman Air and Garuda Airlines to operate at NAIA Terminal 1, which is currently undergoing a $26.5mn expansion and is expected to be readied by 2015. Honrado said that the two airlines are looking to fly ahead of the completion of the rehabilitation. “I think as soon as possible,” he was quoted as saying.
