Bahrain’s Arab Banking Corporation hits limit-up

The Bahrain All Share Index advanced for the sixth session straight, closing 0.81 per cent higher to 1,358.14 points on Wednesday, February 19. Arab Banking Corporation (ABC) jumped ten per cent, finishing at $0.44. Earlier in the day, ABC said, following on from the October 2013 appointment of Dr. Khaled Kawan as group CEO, that the board of directors of ABC at its meeting on February 17, 2014, approved a re-alignment of group-level senior management responsibilities. ABC announced the appointment of two new executive vice-presidents. Ray Ferguson will join the ABC Group from Standard Chartered Bank and will be appointed to the new position of executive vice-president and group chief banking officer, based in Bahrain. In addition, Sael Al Waary, currently senior vice-president and group chief operating officer of ABC, will be elevated to executive vice-president, with an expanded role as group chief operating officer. Both will report to Dr Khaled Kawan, the group CEO.
