Citi announced that it has won 14 awards in regional and country categories in Global Finance magazine’s 2014 World’s Best Corporate/Institutional and Consumer Internet Banks competition for the Middle East and North Africa region.
Country winners for Citi include branches in Algeria, Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates who won Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank Awards in their respective markets and Bahrain and Egypt who won Best Consumer Internet Bank. Citi also won in many regional subcategories for Best Investment Management Services, Best Web Site Design, Best in Mobile Banking, Best in Social Media and Best Mobile Banking App.
“We are delighted about these awards and we continually strive to deliver world-class digital solutions to our customer in the region,” said Atiq Ur Rehman. “These awards recognize the progress we are making in this area and our ongoing commitment to becoming the world’s leading digital bank,” he said.
“As client demand continues to increase for digital banking – a key part of the remarkable customer experience Citi is building – these wins for the franchise represent another milestone of the progress we are making,” said Dinesh Sharma, Head of Consumer Banking for Middle East and North Africa.
Winners are chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys. Global Finance editors are responsible for the final selection of winners in the First Round.
Winning banks are selected based on the following criteria: strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, and web site design and functionality.
