The Dubai equity market index DFMGI added 0.10 per cent to reach 4,579.76 points on Sunday, July 13. Emaar Properties fell by 1.35 per cent to AED9.51. DFM, the only Arab bourse listed on a market, slipped 0.62 per cent to AED3.22. Earlier last Thursday, Reuters reported the DFM and its sister bourse ADX in Abu Dhabi have shelved their intention to merge as both sides failed to find common grounds, citing “sources”. It bears some irony that last year, Reuters reported several times, notably on June 17 2013, that both markets agreed to join forces, also citing “sources speaking on the condition of anonymity”.
