The Qatar Exchange (QE) 20 Index rose intra-day above 12,940 points, before the gauge fell back and closed 0.29 per cent lower at 12,902.04 points on Wednesday, April 23. Ezdan Holding was the top gainer, edging up by 10 per cent to close at QAR45.75. The shares of Al Khalij Commercial Bank recorded the biggest drop and dived 8.70 per cent to QAR23.60. Earlier in the day, the sixth biggest Qatari lender by assets revealed that it has opened a new full-service branch in Umm Lukhba, close to The Landmark shopping mall. “Al Khaliji’s new branch reflects a fresh approach to banking in Qatar,” according to the bank.
