Sharjah Islamic Bank has inaugurated its new branch in Jebel Ali, strengthening its presence on the local banking arena. The opening of SIB’s fourth branch in Dubai brings the number of SIB branches across the UAE to a total of 32.
The opening ceremony was attended by HE Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, who inaugurated the new branch in the presence of HE Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General at the Department of Economic Development, Dubai (DED).
The Jebel Ali branch will provide a wide range of banking services to retail and corporate clients and SMEs including trade finance and corporate. The bank’s clients can make use of the various banking products provided at the new branch, which also provides a package of retail banking services.
The move is in line with the growth of the banking sector, in general, and the Islamic banking, in particular, fuelled by recovery of all investment sectors. Through this branch, SIB has assigned 15 employees to deliver banking services to the largest possible group of clients, especially the industrial areas in the country.
On this occasion, HE Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said, “We inaugurated the new branch to serve as an important instrument to support growth in the country’s industrial areas and strengthen the presence of Islamic banking. The bank decided to increase the work hours at the Jebel Ali Branch to cope with the overwhelming response and the rise in the number of clients. The bank also plans to launch new services to handle the growing requirements that distinguish Sharjah Islamic Bank in the banking sector.”
The CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank added: “We have a centre for trade finance services at the new branch that will offer high quality finance services to companies, as the branch is situated at Jebel Ali – one of the largest industrial areas in the region. Through this branch, we will be able to offer our reliable and efficient services to largest group possible of government and private entities as well as financial and investment institutions operating in the area.”
Mohammed Abdullah urged the branch’s management and employees to perform to the highest level of quality in customer service and to continue representing the bank well. He added: “It would not have been possible for the bank to reach this rank without the dedication and relentless efforts of its employees in all departments and branches.”
HE Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General at the Department of Economic Development, Dubai (DED), praised Sharjah Islamic Bank for its increasingly positive performance.
He commended all the UAE’s banks in general for their remarkable growth. He said: “We are proud to open a new branch of Sharjah Islamic Bank – this prestigious national edifice – a heavyweight local bank which has received the DED’s Dubai Quality Award. The bank is moving steadily to reach international levels of competitiveness, in line with the Dubai Capital of Islamic Economy initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.”
