Commercial Bank, one of the leading full service banks in Qatar, is pleased to announce that Qatari students aged 19 to 22 have taken their first steps towards a career in banking at the Bank’s Summer Internship Programme.
To begin the Programme, students completed a three-day induction and leadership development course run by Huminvest at Commercial Bank Academy to build leadership and communication skills.
During the induction, Professor Idries Al Jarrah, Professor of Finance and Commercial Bank’s Chair of Banking at Qatar University, addressed the students about the benefits of completing internships as an important part of their education that complements their academic studies. The students also met officials from the Bank who shared their personal insights and advice with the students about a successful career in banking.
The students will now spend the next four weeks of the Summer Internship Programme gaining practical experience of how a bank operates within various business units across Commercial Bank. Interns will work alongside full-time Bank employees, performing real tasks under the guidance of a senior mentor. Students will also learn about Commercial Bank’s two-year Graduate Development Programme, which is open to university graduates.
Commercial Bank CEO Mr. Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi said: “Commercial Bank’s Summer Internship Programme provides Qatar University and our sponsored students with their first taste of a life in banking. The Programme not only helps students learn about how a bank works but it also provides them with a unique opportunity to learn first hand about the exciting careers available at Commercial Bank and the banking industry.”
Places are still available for Qatari graduates with high potential to join Commercial Bank’s 2014 Graduate Development Programme starting in September. For more information about the programme please contact [email protected]
