3M Nexcare, the leading wound healing solution has partnered with Al Baraha hospital and Sharjah Blood Bank to organize a blood donation drive in the Emirate of Dubai during the month of June 2014.

This campaign has been introduced with an objective to raise awareness amongst the residents of Dubai about the importance of blood donation and effective wound healing.

As part of this campaign Nexcare™ has organized a blood donation camp outside the Oasis Centre shopping center in a specially equipped medical van on 25 June. Besides this, Nexcare had also hosted a blood donation camp at the Al Baraha hospital in Dubai on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. In order to raise awareness and generate public interest about the importance of donating blood, Nexcare™ has created a special Facebook Pledge initiative.

“Sustained availability of safe blood for patients in need is a constant challenge and with this campaign, we aim to make blood donation an activity for all seasons as several lives can indeed be saved annually with adequate blood resources. 3M Nexcare™ has been at the forefront of introducing comprehensive healing solutions around the world and we are proud to collaborate with Al Baraha hospital and Sharjah Blood Bank for the blood donation drive initiative”, said Gaurav Misra, Division Manager, 3M.

According to the World Health Organization, national blood supplies are based almost entirely on voluntary unpaid blood donations in 62 countries and the WHO goal is for all countries to obtain all blood supplies from voluntary unpaid donors by 2020. The WHO estimates that the world blood needs can be met if the donated blood supply forms one to 3% of a country’s population.
