AAW supported 30 students across ten schools in the “Eat Healthy Q8” initiative during their four-week programme and awarded all the students in a finale event held on Thursday, including first and second place winners Nawaf Khater and Mariam Al Kandari, who respectively received top-of-line sports footwear from Reebok and a three-month membership at Curves For Women.
Head of Retail Operations at AAW, Malik Saad said: “The results of the initiative have been reassuring, especially when witnessing first-hand the investment and commitment these youngsters have taken towards a healthier lifestyle. At AAW, we have a long-standing commitment in supporting health and fitness initiatives like Eat Healthy Q8 and we will continue to do so for the community’s benefit.
“We hope the awards from our fitness brands will encourage the winners to continue in their journey towards healthy living. We are very proud of all the students and hope they become future ambassadors of healthy living in Kuwait.”
There are various local research data including the latest report by Kuwait University Professor Dr. Mustafa Hayat that indicates 80% of Kuwaiti children are overweight.
Through this initiative, each participating student entered a four-week diet and fitness plan and was monitored on a weekly basis by top-of-the-line nutritionists in Kuwait. AAW provided full-support to the initiative, as well as encouragement to the students.
AAW has an on-going commitment in supporting and encouraging youth, athletic and sports activities in Kuwait. Last year, AAW and Nike came together to sponsor the Kuwait Charity Run that gathered thousands of athletes and running enthusiasts in a 10-kilometer and 20-kilometer race. The company also sponsors Aymstrong athlete Yousef AlQenai and Inspire Gym.
