Abu Dhabi Commercial Properties (ADCP) has launched a child safety programme to install fall-prevention devices on the windows of 40,000 homes in residential towers in Abu Dhabi.
As part of the campaign, ADCP will install over 230,000 obstacle apparatus to window in the next 12 months. This intelligently engineered safety device has been designed to restrict the opening size of a window or balcony door to a maximum of 10 cm in accordance with Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) regulations. The product conforms to local and international product quality marks including international standards BS 8213 and BS 5588.
Speaking about the child safety initiative, Mr. Abdulla Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Managing Director, ADCE and ADCP, said, “As a building operator, we have a duty of responsibility to ensure the safety of the residents in our properties and window safety is of paramount importance. By the end of this installation programme over 40,000 family homes will have been visited by our specialist installation teams and we expect to have installed approximately 230,000 fall-prevention devices to both internal window and balcony door egress points. All we ask of residents is to permit access to their home by our specialist installers to complete the task successfully.”
The initiative is part of the property management firm’s efforts to curtail further incidents of young children falling from windows or balconies within their managed buildings. This effort follows Decree 24/2012 of Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), in accordance with ASTM F 2006 or ASTM F 2090 or an equivalent international standard.
