The visit was followed by a ceremony honoring Shuqaiq Water and Electricity Company (SqWEC) for sponsoring the Optometric Center with specialty medical equipment and the visiting doctor program.
H.E. Dr. Al-Sweden praised the efforts of the hospital’s staff and administration, the achievements of the Directorate of Health Affairs in Jizan led by the General Director, Dr. Mohsen Tabiqi and the Director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hazmi. Furthermore, he acknowledged the outstanding efforts made by the Charitable Health Society for Patient Care (ENAYAH), to serve patients and reflect realistic and concrete steps to unite the community with private sector donors thereby pursuing the interest of our dear country and its citizens. H.E. Also praised the commitment SqWEC to the community in realizing the massive need for health services in the Jizan region.
The ceremony commenced with a recital from the Holy Koran followed by a speech from Dr. Mohsen Tabiqi, the General Director of the Directorate of Health Affairs in Jizan. Thereafter H.E. Dr. Madani Alagi, Chairman of SqWEC delivered a speech commemorating the occasion. H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Suwailem, the Vice Chairman of the Board of ENAYAH and member of the Shoura Council stated in a speech that followed the support and services that ENAYAH offers in bearing the costs of treatment and follow-up of different charitable and medical cases. The ceremony was concluded with a short film about the hospital and its projects and honoring of SqWEC and contributing doctors to the clinics followed by a short speech from H.E. Dr. Al-Sweden.
Dr. Mohsen Tabiqi stated, “We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al-Sweden for honoring the inauguration of this project, which reflects the continued support of the Governor’s office for the hospital. We would also like to thank ENAYAH and Shuqaiq Water and Electricity Company for their continued support in the development of the hospital’s projects, reflecting their great commitment to serve the citizens of this dear country. We also thank everyone in the public or private sectors who contributed to this achievement.”
Sabya General Hospital was inaugurated in 1972 to provide health care services to the residents of Sabya region which today has a population of nearly half a million people and includes 23 towns. The neighboring towns include Rea’aeh, Iyban, Aljho, Alkha’shah, Othowan, Jabal al-Hashr, Al-Salma,Algah’ah and the Thumad Centre of Abu Arish.
The 126 bed hospital is a full fledge medical facility with a Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Surgery, Department of Ophthalmology, Department of Orthopedic, Emergency Department, Department of Dermatology, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Nephrology, Department of Diabetes and Blood Pressure, Department of Laboratory, Department of Prison, Operations Division, Department of Anesthesiology, Department of Pharmacy Services, Department of Preventive Medicine, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Department of Psychiatric Clinic, Department of Urology, Department of Family Medicine and Society. The outpatient clinics cater to 6996 patients per year.
In his statement, the Chairman of SqWEC, Dr. Madani Alagi, stated “We thank the administration of Sabya General Hospital for giving us the opportunity to support the Optometric Center by providing the latest medical equipment. It is our honor to serve our community as we see this as an essential part of our business and we plan to support other community care programs in the future; this is first a step in a series of other initiatives we are currently undertaking.
