Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority hosts 6th IFIAR Inspection Workshop

United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, March 06 - 2012 @ 12:17

The three-day workshop commenced yesterday with more than 120 audit inspectors from around 33 international jurisdictions, marking an increase of over 30% compared to the last workshop held last year in Washington DC. ADAA’s request to host this event was approved at the last IFIAR Plenary Meeting held in Bangkok whereby IFIAR members lauded ADAA’s commitment to becoming an active member of IFIAR.

The workshop kick-started with an induction session for the newly enrolled audit inspectors acquainting them with the workshop agenda and its objectives, followed by the main workshop session that was inaugurated with a keynote speech from His Excellency Riyad Al Mubarak Chairman of ADAA welcoming attendees to Abu Dhabi.

“ADAA joined IFIAR back in 2009 with significant determination to contribute to the global Audit community and since then we have managed to host IFIAR’s plenary meeting, been elected as a member of its Advisory Council and hosting its Inspection Workshop today and we thank you for your trust and confidence in ADAA” said Al-Mubarak

“These many achievements wouldn’t have been possible if our leadership hadn’t set the right foundations to host such caliber of international events, built and reinforced our confidence and led our aspirations towards success.” added His Excellency.

The Inspection Workshop is held on an annual basis with the objective of sharing knowledge and best practices pertaining to audit supervisory activities, recent inspections findings, audit quality observations and the role of group auditors.

This year’s agenda will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Clemens Boersig, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG and IFRS Foundation Trustee providing an overview of the current macroeconomic situation. Other topics covered in the workshop will include current market conditions, discussions on a series of specific audit related topics such as professional skepticism and quality of audit evidence.

It’s worth mentioning that since the inception of IFIAR back in 2006, this is the first time an Arab Country hosts one of its Inspection Workshops.
