ADGAS to take part in Earth Hour

United Arab Emirates: Thursday, March 21 - 2013 @ 17:36

“We will join the Earth Hour movement by switching off non-essential lights at our business premises for one hour. We have urged our employees to turn off energy consuming devices, non-essential lights and electrical appliances at homes. This reinforces our collective commitment to the planet and demonstrates our leadership in finding solutions to the environmental challenges,” said Mr. Fahim Kazim, Chief Executive Officer of ADGAS in a Circular addressed to the Company employees.

“We have a stake in the future of our planet and ADGAS believes that we have a natural responsibility to operate in a responsible manner and in ways that will minimize the impact on the environment,” Mr. Kazim added.

In order to generate greater awareness amongst employees and encourage participation of families and youngsters, ADGAS has launched a series of innovative information campaigns and people engagement programmes in the form of photography competition, candle light dinner at the Company’s recreation center, Earth Hour logo printed T-shirts for employees and banner displays at all office sites.

“We are one of the UAE’s earliest and pioneer organizations to embrace the initiative for the protection of environment. We have always been working on reducing our environmental footprint both on Das Island and in Abu Dhabi. This campaign is yet another demonstration of our responsibilities towards Sustainability,” observed Mr. Kazim.

ADGAS has established a close coordination link with the Emirates Wildlife Society who in cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature (EWS-WWF) is spearheading the Earth Hour movement in UAE.

“This is truly an inspiring global initiative towards a sustainable world and ADGAS is pro-actively embracing the Earth Hour for the third consecutive year. We are setting up a stand in the Headquarters lobby to enable employees to sign up their pledge to observe Earth Hour and commit to meet the challenge of going beyond,” said Mr. Fouad Al Wahedi, Chairman of ADGAS Sustainability Committee.

In order to provide a further fillip to this laudable initiative, ADGAS has extended its outreach to its customers, suppliers and other stakeholders by inviting them to join the Earth Hour movement towards protecting the planet.
