His Excellency Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, was awarded Champion of Health, Safety and Environment 2013 as part of ADNOC’s Health, Safety and Environment award program.
His Excellency Al Dhaheri received the award during a special ceremony held at the St Regis Hotel in the Nation Towers, Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, 22 April. The ceremony also honored ADNOC Distribution with the Special Recognition Award for its success in developing a project that aims to change the way gas is supplied to high-rise buildings.
Commenting on this achievement, His Excellency Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO – ADNOC Distribution, said: “Achieving the highest standards of health, safety and environment are among our key priorities. We have come a long way in furthering this goal and at ADNOC Distribution, we are all proud of our accomplishments. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of our HSE initiatives and to the ADNOC Group for honoring me with this award.”
His Excellency Al Dhaheri added: “I am confident that with ADNOC Distribution’s continuous effort, the Group will serve as a supporter of social responsibility initiatives that prioritize the health and safety of its employees and its customers, and eventually contribute to the overall well-being of the people that make up our country.”
ADNOC Distribution’s landmark project that won a special recognition award aims to change the manner in which gas is supplied to high rise buildings. Natural gas distribution infrastructure to supply these new high rise buildings was under development phase which put constraints on the new development. Therefore, it was decided to seek a safe alternative solution for the fuel that would be safer and more convenient to use for these new developments until availability of natural gas distribution network became operational.
ADNOC Distribution initiated the innovative solution of the using SNG (Substitute Natural Gas). SNG is supplied into the building through a network that is similar to conventional natural gas distribution but from an SNG Plant located at safe distance from the building. This reduces the risk of installation of ‘conventional Rooftop Central LPG Gas System’ and proportionately reduces the risk of LPG related life safety risks in high rise buildings with the enhanced safe gas distribution system.
The ADNOC Annual Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Award program is designed to recognize outstanding achievements by employees and affiliated contractors of ADNOC Group Companies in the areas of health, safety and environment.
