Senior executives from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) taking part in Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2014) currently being organized in Houston, Texas (USA) have discussed ways of strengthening ties and creating future opportunities between US energy firms and ADNOC and its subsidiary companies.

In a dinner hosted by the US-UAE Business Council in honor of ADNOC delegation, Senior US executives and ADNOC’s high-level delegates, led by HE Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi, ADNOC’s Director General stressed on the importance of developing innovative pathways for commercial partnership in the US-UAE oil and gas and related sectors.

The event, held in conjunction with OTC 2014, featured remarks by H.E. Michael Corbin, US Ambassador to the UAE, and a discussion with ADNOC delegates, moderated by Danny Sebright, President of the US-UAE Business Council.

Following welcome remarks from Sebright, Ambassador Corbin presented his perspectives on the broader trade and commercial relationship between the US and UAE, before narrowing focus on the energy sector. In his comments, Corbin noted the importance of international engagement surrounding natural resources and information-sharing among global players in the oil and gas field and related industries. He highlighted America’s history of commercial and educational partnership with the UAE within the energy sector and new developments supporting the UAE’s broader economic diversification goals.

“The United Arab Emirates and the United States share a traditional energy sector relationship that spans decades and a keen interest in providing thought leadership and innovation in the alternative energy space,” said Ambassador Corbin. “The presence in Houston this week of the large Emirati delegation led by ADNOC Director General His Excellency Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi is testament to these strong ties.”

Following Ambassador Corbin’s remarks, Ali Khalifa Al Shamsi, Director of Strategy and Coordination at ADNOC provided the audience with an overview of the importance to the UAE’s engagement with the US in the oil and gas sector. In his comments, Mr. Shamsi noted that American firms have been instrumental in the transfer of energy technology, human resources, and know-how while maintaining strong support of the UAE’s vision for economic diversification away from a reliance on oil and gas. He went on to underscore several commercial ties between American firms and ADNOC and its subsidiary companies.

“ADNOC and its subsidiaries look to American and international industry partners to deliver and co-develop innovative pathways for commercial partnership in the oil and gas and related sectors,” said Mr. Shamsi. “We look forward to OTC every year as an opportunity to enhance upon existing partnerships and create new lasting relationships with our fellow global energy stakeholders.”

Mr. Shamsi highlighted the upcoming Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2014) and encouraged the American firms to participate in the event.
ADNOC’s delegation is in Houston to exhibit and meet industry counterparts at OTC 2014 and attend a multitude of events with industry and government leaders on the sidelines of the conference.

Making their presence felt the world’s premier event, ADNOC’s stands at the two OTC venues attracted a record number of visitors on the second day including top officials and senior industry executives who were briefed by ADNOC delegates on the company’s current and future projects and plans.
