The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its Group of Companies highlighted their commitment and contribution to the development of UAE petrochemicals industry through participating and sponsoring the Middle East Petrotech 2014 Conference & Exhibition being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Manama from 18-21 May 2014, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
H.H. Sheikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, opened the Middle East Petrotech 2014 exhibition which brought together top leading players in the global and regional refining and petrochemical industries. The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Minister of Economy and Planning in Saudi Arabia, Khalid Al Falih, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia, and senior officials and higher management representatives from ADNOC and its Group of Companies as well as representatives from the UAE Consulate in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Middle East Petrotech 2014 exhibition provides the companies participating under the umbrella of ADNOC, including Borouge, Takreer and Fertil, an important opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and best practices of the industry with representatives of high-level regional and international petrochemical companies under one roof. The event is another platform for ADNOC and its Group of Companies to demonstrate and underline Abu Dhabi’s continuous endeavours to support and improve the petrochemicals industry and be introduced to the latest technologies used in this field. As one of the world’s major oil and gas companies, ADNOC and its Group of Companies are very keen to participate in this significant event due to its key role in strengthening the economic business relations with the top leading players in the petrochemical and refining industries in this region.

H.H. Sheikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, toured the Middle East Petrotech 2014 exhibition and visited the ADNOC Group stand where he was welcomed by Obaid Saeed Al Dhaheri, Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Borouge, and other senior management representatives of the ADNOC Group. Al Dhaheri briefed H.H. Sheikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa about the innovative plastics solutions produced by Borouge for the infrastructure, automotive and advanced packaging markets. He also highlighted the role the Company is playing in enhancing the petrochemicals industry and the diversification of the UAE national economy in the UAE as well its continuous efforts to create a variety of value added and sustainable solutions for society.
“Petroctch conference has become an important venue for debating recent issues pertaining to the refining and petrochemical industry in the region,” said Jasem Ali Al Sayegh, CEO of Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer). “The theme of this year’s conference ‘Downstream value chain integration’ is the essential trend ADNOC & its Group Companies and other giant corporations in the region are keen to realize.”

The event was attended by a number of oil and gas ministers and directors from the GCC countries who chaired the plenary panel of the Middle East Petrotech 2014 Conference. The conference also featured various high-ranking speakers who enriched with their insights the sessions of the ‘Opportunities and Incentives for Enabling Downstream Integrated Industrialization Forum’ held aside the conference. Nine technical sessions were also held covering various topics related to refining, technology, R&D and effective energy management systems in the petrochemical industry. Two complimentary safety workshops were also conducted during the conference on ‘Process management: An integrated approach to managing operational risks’, and ‘Neurosafety’.
Bilateral meetings have been held during the event between the heads of participating refining and petrochemicals companies to discuss issues of mutual concern focusing on the technical and business changes and the extensive opportunities the Middle East is facing in managing what have become the world’s most important energy reserves.
