Held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, the conference welcomed the chairman of Al Bannai Group, Abdulaziz Al Bannai, and more than 400 employees from Axiom Telecom, Sofra Worldwide, Phone Care and Service City.
113 employees who have completed between three and 10 years with the company received the ‘Long Service Award’. Another 10 employees were presented with Al Bannai’s ‘Outstanding Service Award’, recognising their exemplary performance in 2003. Award winners received cash prizes of up to US$1,000 each and certificates.
“All the companies of the Al Bannai Group exceeded targets for both top-line and bottom-line operations in 2003, and that’s why we are introducing a comprehensive performance management programme for this year,” said Mr. Faisal Al Bannai, CEO of the Al Bannai Group of Companies.
Mr. K.V.Rajan, Group Human Resources Manager of the Al Bannai Group, said: “We believe in maintaining leadership in each of our businesses. Our people are our greatest asset and developing these resources through recognition, rewards and further training is one of our prime goals for 2004.”
Efe Dikturk, Marketing Coordinator of Axiom Telecom, one of the employees awarded for outstanding performance, said: “It is very motivating to be in a company that is making a big effort to appreciate and drive its employees. The new system will help us raise our performance levels, grow and communicate more effectively within departments.”
As part of the performance management programme, employees will undergo training and evaluation in the following key business result areas: profit orientation, sales and revenue generation, people management, quality, and customer service. Also, plans are in place to introduce the outstanding performance awards on a monthly basis.
Commenting on the remainder of 2004, Chairman, Abdulaziz Al Bannai said: “All the Al Bannai companies are expanding their operations in their respective areas. More outlets are opening, and we are hiring more people and looking at acquiring more companies. Axiom Telecom, for example, plans to start operations in Saudi Arabia very soon.”
He added: “A proper human resources function catering for the many nationalities working at the group provides us with the right support to manage our expansion and strengthen the management team.”
