Since April of this year footfall at AGC has increased by 28% and numbers are in the region of 16,000 on weekdays increasing to 20,000 on weekends. A success story indeed for the Middle East’s longest-running shopping mall.
Contributing to the popular success of AGC has been the range of activities on offer, including the hugely popular fire-wizardry of the Flaming Butterflies from Australia, plus a stunning array of dancers, clowns and jugglers from South Africa that wowed the crowds. Fred Watts, General Manager, Al Ghurair City commented, “The period from April to November this year has been enormously successful in terms of sales and footfall increase, with new store openings and an innovative range of activities proving to be a hit with our visitors.”
Al Ghurair City virtually defined the modern Dubai retail environment and was responsible for introducing the shopping mall concept in the Middle East with Al Ghurair City. The recent US $120 million transformation sees AGC leading the way as a shopping complex that far exceeds customer’s expectations. As part of the development programme, AGC will launch a new 8-screen multiplex cinema and entertainment complex. Opening in January 2003, the new multiplex facility will have a seating capacity for 1,200 cinema-goers.
In addition to the multiplex development, high on the list of new surprises at AGC is the recent opening of Book Corner, which represents the largest bookstore in the Middle East. The upcoming opening of Spinneys in December will be a 45,000 square feet state of the art store catering to the needs of the Deira community, making AGC a one-stop retail experience for the entire Deira area. Housing over 160 retail outlets including leading high street names such as FCUK, Guess, Morgan, Paris Gallery, Milano and Mexx, AGC has further strengthened its retail offering with the opening of Bebe and Lifestyle Arts & Jewellery Gift Centre.
Launched in September to the delight of hundreds of youngsters, Al Ghurair City’s hugely successful Kidz Club re-opens on December 12th, and runs through to the end of the year. Held every Thursday from 11am until 3pm on the first floor of Al Ghurair City, this wonderfully interactive club keeps your offspring happily entertained with an assortment of fun supervised activities and it’s completely free!
The Kidz Club is closed during the Holy Month of Ramadan as AGC’s Spirit of Giving campaign in association with the Red Crescent takes place to encourage children to donate their old toys, books and clothes to those less fortunate every Wednesday and Thursday until the end of Ramadan. With many more exciting activities in the pipeline for this year in next, Al Ghurair City lives up to its promise to surprise you every day.
