With the latest figures showing an increase of 62% in footfall for Dubai Summer Surprises 2003 compared to 2002, and coupon offtake figures up by 64%, it heralds an unprecedented come back for Al Ghurair City and further establishes its positioning as a major shopping and leisure destination in the Middle East. Fred Watts, General Manager of Al Ghurair City, commented, “2003 is proving to be a successful year for Al Ghurair City. We have consolidated our position after the renovations not only in terms of sales and footfall figures, but also in terms of attracting high profile tenants. Our efforts have been focussed on obtaining a convenient mix of Mall tenants that satisfy the retailer demand along with the very important consumer demand.”
Al Ghurair City currently houses over 160 outlets, and once all the new tenants have opened, there will be over 200 outlets within the mall by the end of 2003. Complementing the existing vibrant retail mix, the newcomers comprise F&B outlets, textiles, fashion wear and electronics amongst many others. Watts explained, “Providing a retail mix that caters to our varied target consumers is a key element in our success, and with the openings of tenants such as Daniel Hechter, Sun & Sand, CAV Audio International and Nando’s we aim to further consolidate our loyalty with our primary consumers, namely the youth market and nuclear family.” Watts added, “We are developing the Mall which will be appreciated for its convenience, efficiency, ambience and broad merchandise assortments.”
Amongst the high profile new tenants to sign leases at Al Ghurair City are Mashreqbank, Barista Coffee, Early Learning Centre, XX By Mexx, N-Bar, Nayomi, Popley and Chilli’s, some of which have recently opened, with the remainder opening in Q3 and 4. These join recent tenants Grand Cinecity, Plug-Ins Electronix, Spinneys, La Senza, La Senza Girl, Virgin Vie and Tally Weijl, all of which are enjoying high traffic and sales since opening at Al Ghurair City.
