New Gulf data security regulations spur demand for DLP solutions

Bahrain: Tuesday, April 13 - 2010 @ 13:48

The new regulations, introduced following several data leakage incidents among large financial institutions in the Gulf in recent years, require enterprises to comply with strict data security standards to prevent accidental or intentional transfer of potentially sensitive data (e g customer credit card information, financial information, intellectual property etc).

To address the technical requirements of these new regulations, Websense, a global leader in integrated Web security, data security, and email security solutions, recently conducted a technical workshop in Bahrain for Hilal Computers, its local partner, to update Hilal Computers engineers on the latest Websense DLP solutions and capabilities and how they can help large organisations comply with the new regulations.

The workshop was held under the Websense Gold ChannelConnect Partner programme, under which local partners receive world-class technical support, sales enablement and marketing tools, and training and educational resources from Websense. Hilal Computers became a Gold Partner in October 2009.

Steve Grey, Regional Manager Middle East, Websense said the Company’s DLP solutions offered unrivalled functionality and data protection.

“The Websense Data Security Suite takes data security to another level, offering unrivalled visibility, control and accurate identification of confidential data, relevant to users in the region.

Hardy Koshy, General Manager, Hilal Computers explains:

“In a changing regulatory environment, end-users such as the PCI and government need a data security solution which helps them become compliant. Hilal Computers is now equipped to deploy Websense DLP technology to large organisations in Bahrain.”

Geoffrey Milne, General Manager, Al Hilal Group, Hilal Computers’ parent company added that the move towards greater regulation of data security in Gulf countries, coupled with the commitment by Websense to supporting its local country partners, would enable Hilal Computers to enhance data security applications for the benefit of its client base in the financial and government sectors.

“As a Websense Gold Partner, Hilal Computers is totally committed to achieving superior market penetration in Bahrain. With its world-class data protection solutions, Websense continues to be a leader and Hilal Computers looks forward to maintaining and building on this reputation,” he said.
