As part of its commitment to promoting a genuine expression of respect and love for the UAE National Flag, Alhosn University has announced its support for the National Flag Day campaign organized by the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development (MCYCD) under the slogan ‘Raise it Up High … To Keep it High.’

The campaign complements the initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to celebrate the UAE Flag in conjunction with the anniversary of the accession of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the presidency of the UAE. It aims to continue the path towards comprehensive development in honor of the directives of the late H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Alhosn has displayed a campaign website on the university portal to encourage all segments of society to participate in the cultural, artistic and heritage -related events to be held throughout the month in preparation for the 42nd UAE National Day on December 2, 2013. This forms part of the university’s efforts to promote the month-long campaign among its students, faculty members, administrators, and parents.

The website offers an ideal platform for nationals and expatriates to express their respect for the national flag which reflects the genuine meaning of eminence, honour and belonging to the homeland.

H.E. Prof. Munther Talal Momany, Vice Chancellor and CEO of Alhosn University, pointed out that extending support for the sixth edition of the National Flag campaign demonstrates the University’s commitment to deepening the feelings of pride, honour and belonging to the UAE which continues to lead the path towards excellence, leadership, and comprehensive development in line with governmental directives. Dr. Momany further added that the ‘Raise it Up High… To Keep it High’ campaign aims to consolidate the feeling of belongingness among the UAE’s Nationals and expatriates alike. He also referred to the initiative as a means to raise public awareness on how to respect the flag as a symbol of national unity.

“Through the National Flag campaign, we look forward to strengthening the loyalty of younger generations towards the inherent values upon which the country’s unity relies on. We also aim to enhance the understanding of youths on the true meaning of the Emirati flag, which reflects the pioneering achievements set out by our founding fathers under leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. As we do every year, we are once again gearing up to celebrate National Day as part of our dedication to the ambitious vision of the UAE to attain the highest levels of leadership and excellence. This complements our university motto of ‘Global Knowledge with Local Vision’ aimed at creating a well-qualified generation that can contribute to future development and progress,” Dr. Momany added.

Named after Abu Dhabi’s historic Al Hosn Palace, Alhosn University was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. It currently offers 18 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. Alhosn accepts students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
